During the ensuing Zhou (Chou) dynasty (1027-256 BC), nobles at court attended sport archery tournaments that were accompanied by music and interspersed with elegant salutations.

2007 FITA World Indoor Championships

Open Call for Member Associations/Organizers willing to bid for the 2007 FITA World Indoor Championships

5 August 2005 - The FLTA (Luxembourg Archery Association) has informed FITA that the Member Association is forced to withdraw as organizer of the 9th World Indoor Championships, as they have no guarantees to fulfill the requests to hold this major indoor FITA competition.

FITA accepted this withdrawal and has opened a candidature process for FITA Member Associations/Organizers interested in bidding for this event.

If you are interested, please contact the FITA Event Manager in order to start with the bid document preparation. Deadline for receiving Bids is 15 September 2005.

Por la presente tenemos el agrado de invitar por vuestro intermedio a los arqueros de vs. Club al Campeonato Argentino de Salón 2.005 a realizare el próximo 13 y 14 de Agosto en el Estadio Cubierto del Club A. Unión de Santa Fe sito en Av. López y Planes 3553.

El costo de la inscripción es de $ 35 para las categorías Seniors , $ 25 para las categorías G1,G2 y G3 en todas sus divisiones y de $ 5 para las categorías G4 y G5. El cierre de la inscripción operara el día Miércoles 3 reservándonos como club organizador el derecho a admitir o no a los tiradores que se inscriban fuera de termino.

Las Inscripciones las realizará el capitán de equipo el cual deberá indicar los arqueros que se encuentren matriculados .No se recibirán inscripciones particulares.

Disponemos de 70 plazas a $ 12 por persona por noche (desayuno incluido) en las Instalaciones del INEF . El club Unión cuenta dentro sus instalaciones con un comedor y dos bares donde tanto el arquero como acompañantes podrán desayunar , almorzar o cenar a precios muy convenientes.

El torneo se dividirá en dos turnos .En el primer turno lo harán las categorías G5 , G 4 , G3 , G2 y G1 en todas sus divisiones y modalidades. En el segundo turno tirarán las categorías seniors.
El criterio para la división de clases y categorías es el que se desprende de las norma 1.3 . Las categorías G NO ELIMINAN .

Lord's is best known as the home of cricket - but in 2012 it would be the home of Archery. The ground is home to stunning examples of both traditional and modern sporting architecture, as the famous Victorian pavilion is faced by the ultra-futuristic NatWest Media Centre.Location
Lord's Cricket Ground is located in the fashionable St John's Wood area, close to the Road Cycling venue in Regent's Park.

Spectator guideOne of the world's great sporting venues, Lord's will provide a dramatic setting for both competitors and spectators. Crowds of 6,500 would be able to watch the action unfold in front of the famous pavilion.

LegacyAfter the Games Lord's will return to its traditional role as the home of cricket, providing a base for the MCC and Middlesex County Cricket Club.

TransportLord's is easily accessible by tube, train and bus. St John's Wood underground station provides a fast, efficient link to the Olympic Park and other venues in east London.



The Grand National Archery Society is the governing body for the sport of archery in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Society serves nine Regional Societies. Archery has over a hundred member nations throughout the world which are represented by the Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc (F.I.T.A) which is the international governing body for the sport.

The Society's motto reads "Union, Trueheart and Courtesie" The distinction of a sport can be traced back to its lineage.

Archery is a most ancient sport, a sport of both Kings and Queens and is today the only sport providing the official royal bodyguard to the monarch.

The skilful use of the medieval longbow at Crecy (1346) and at Agincourt (1415) laid down its mark in the annals of history and today we retain that history and balance it alongside a modern Olympic sport.

400 : La arquería inglesa comienza con el arco sajón, el cual es primitivo, débil e impreciso, y apto para la caza menor.

1066 Los Normandos, ex Vikingos provenientes de Francia usan el Longbow, el cual es superior al arco Sajón, como quedó demostrado en la Batalla de Hastings.

1247 : Epitafio de Robin Hood 24 de diciembre. ”Hear undenead dis latil stean Laiz Robert Earl of Huntingdon Nea Arcir verza hie sa gevd An pipl kauld im Robin Heud. Sick utlawz az hi an iz men Vil England nivr si agen. Obit. 24 kal. Dekembris, 1247.”

1342 : Eduardo III envía un precepto a los sheriffs para proveer 500 arcos blancos y flechas para la guerra contra Francia. Ordena también a los mismos que vean que el tiempo de vacaciones sea empleado en recreación en Arquería.

1346 : Batalla de Crecy

1356 : Batalla de Poitiers

1415 : Batalla de Agincourt.

1483 : Ricardo III establece nuevamente control de precios para productos de arquería

1495 : Se publica Lytell Geste of Robyn Hode, la primera colección de baladas sobre el “fuera de la ley”

1537 : Enrique VIII establece la Fraternidad de St. George, conocida posteriormente como Artillery Company Of London (La derivación más aceptada del término Artillery parece provenir del francés: Arc Tirer.)

1542 : Se establece un acta que todo hombre de mas de 24 años debe tirar a cualquier marca al menos a 220 yardas de distancia.

1545 : Roger Ascham, Instructor de Tiro con Arco de la Reina Isabel I, escribe el primer tratado sobre Arquería titulado TOXOPHILUS (del griego Toxon : Arco, y Philus : amor).

1566 : Son regulados los precios de los arcos.

1590 : John Lyon, fundador de la Harrow School, establece que entre las diversiones para los escolares, figurara el tiro, y que los padres debían proveer a sus niños de cuerdas de arcos, varillas de flechas y petos para ejercitarse en el tiro con arco.

1603 : En 1603, 1626, 1709, 1819, 1720, 1822, se establecen valiosos premios (flechas de Plata, Medallas de Oro, etc) para los tiros a distancias de 180 yardas. Se establecen la mayoría de las Sociedades de Arquería.

1650 : Con el desarrollo de las armas de fuego comienza a declinar el Arco como Arma y Comienza a surgir la Arquería como Deporte.

1653 : Thomas d’Ufrey escribe : “permítase a los príncipes tirar por ejercicio. A los soldados para fomentar su altruismo, a Los nobles tirar porque es un pasatiempo que les sienta. A los Escolares tirar para clarificar su entendimiento. A los Ciudadanos tirar para purgan la sangre corrupta. A los jóvenes tirar para el rey y una nación mejor. Permitan a toda la nación de arqueros descubrirse, y entonces nosotros sin gran esfuerzo encontraremos hombres virtuosos.

1673 El Ancient Scorton Silver Arrow Contest, es el torneo reglado mas antiguo que se sigue disputando actualmente, y fue disputado por primera vez en Yorkshire, Inglaterra.

1787 Royal Toxophilite Society - Las mujeres son admitidas por primera vez en las sociedades de Arquería y comienzan a participar en competiciones con los hombres.

1791 : Grand Meeting de todas las sociedades de arqueros en Inglaterra del 27 de Mayo en Blackheath.

1792 : El Príncipe de Gales establece las distancias y número de flechas para el York Round.

Ya existían reconocidas las siguientes compañías de Arqueros : Honourable Artíllery Company, Royal Edinburh, Toxophilite, Woodmen of Arden, Royal Kentish Bowmen, Royal British Bowmen, Robin Hood Bowmen, Loyal Archers, Yorkshire Archers, Hainhault Foresters, Southampton Archers, Bowmen of Chevio Chase, Kentish Rangers, Woodmen of Hornsey, Surrey Bowmen, Bowmen of the Border, Mercian Bowmen, Broughton Archers, Staffordshire Bowmen, Trent Archers.

Archery

The principles of modern archery are identical to the sport practised by Robin Hood in medieval times. Today's bows are manufactured from state-of-the-art fibreglass and can fire aluminium and carbon graphite arrows at speeds exceeding 150mph.

OriginsArchery competitions were developed as a way of encouraging the military art of the archer in peacetime. The sport was considered so important to the defence of the nation that a 14th century English law made archery practice compulsory for every man aged between seven and 60.

Olympic HeritageArchery featured in the early modern Games, and in 1904 is was the only event which was open to women. It was dropped after the 1920 Games and not reinstated until the Munich Games of 1972.

Sport at HeartArchers today still use the term 'Robin Hood' to describe a shot which splits the shaft of an arrow already in the target.
